Cookie Policy

1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device. Similar technologies include localStorage and session storage. They let a site remember things between visits — like whether you are signed in or which theme you prefer.
2. The categories you control
When you first visit Humanizerly, a privacy settings panel lets you choose what runs beyond the essentials. You can change your choice at any time from the “Cookie settings” link in the footer. We sort everything we use into four categories:
- Essential (always on) — required for the site to function: signing in, the anonymous free tier's daily generation limit, your billing session, and remembering your cookie choice itself. These can't be switched off because the site can't work without them.
- Statistics (opt-in) — anonymized product analytics that help us understand which features are used and where things break. No events are sent until you enable this category.
- Marketing (opt-in) — lets us measure which channels bring visitors to Humanizerly, so we can improve how we reach people who need the product. We do not sell your data to third parties.
- External media (opt-in) — embedded content hosted by third parties, such as our YouTube demo video. Loading it can share technical data (like your IP address) with that provider. Until you accept this category, embeds stay click-to-load and you can always load a single one without changing your site-wide choice.
3. Cookies and storage we use
- ah_consent (essential) — a localStorage value recording which of the categories above you've accepted, so we don't ask again on every visit.
- ah_usage (essential) — a signed, httpOnly cookie that records the anonymous free tier's daily generation count. It contains a date and a number, nothing else, and expires within 24 hours.
- Firebase authentication storage (essential) — managed by Google Firebase to keep you signed in to your account.
- theme (essential) — a localStorage value remembering your light/dark preference.
- Stripe cookies (essential, checkout only) — set by Stripe on its checkout and billing portal pages for payment security and fraud prevention. See Stripe's cookie policy.
- Google Analytics (_ga, _ga_*) (statistics) — usage events like a humanization completed or a pricing page viewed, and which pages are visited. These relate to usage, not to the content of your text, and gtag.js is not loaded — no Google Analytics cookies are set — until you accept the Statistics category. See Google's privacy policy.
- YouTube (youtube-nocookie.com) (external media) — loaded only after you press play and accept this category, or choose to load that one video without changing your site-wide setting.
4. Your choices
- Use the “Cookie settings” link in the footer at any time to reopen the panel and change your choices.
- You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may break sign-in and the anonymous free tier.
- Marketing emails (delivered via Brevo, not via cookies) always include an unsubscribe link.
5. Changes to this policy
We will post any changes on this page and update the date above.
